Topic: The virtues found in Sawm (Fasting)

1- Sabar (Patience and Forbearance)

Fasting educates people to be patient. Fasting and patience have a similarity in terms of meaning that is self -restraint. Fasting increases patience in ourselves and keeps us from committing sins

3 types of patience

- Patience in obeying God

- Be patient by refraining from immorality

- Be patient when disaster strikes

2-  Takrim (Respect and deference)

- Fasting makes the brotherhood of fellow Muslims closer by giving each other food to break the fast, giving zakat to those in need and creating a sense of sympathy among Muslims

- Fasting brings self -respect to others.

- Fasting is an individual worship but must also be accompanied by other acts of worship such as alms, zakat, etc.

3-  Rahmah (Friendliness)

- Fasting educates us to love & be compassionate because we feel hungry and thirsty & that's why Islam encourages us to give alms during the month of Ramadan.
