 WEEK 6

Topic: The virtues found in Zakat/Sadaqah

Surah Al-Taubah (9:103) - Zakah

Take, [O Muḥammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke [Allah's blessings] upon them. Indeed, your invocations are reassurance for them. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.

The zakat was originally to purify the property. God will replace something better with what we put out. Zakat will only increase our wealth instead of reducing it.

Zakat of Islam :

Ibadah Qalbiyyah: Worship that involves the heart

Ibadah badaniyyah: Worship that moves the body

Ibadah Maaliyyah: Worship that involves property/material

Which combines the above three acts of worship are: Hajj

1-Tawakkul (ReliQalbiyyah Worship: Worship that involves the heart

Zakat is a test until tawakal and to test human faith.

The test for Tawakkul

- Wanna see people like this, do not want to share money with other people

- Sincerely or not, when it comes to zakat

- Allah s.w.t will replace what we have released to help other people.

- not only zakat, alms etc. also Allah will reward with reward.

2- Ukhuwwah (Brotherhood)

- Zakat strengthens our relationship with other human beings, namely ukhuwwah islamiyyah because zakat makes society a big family because the person who gives zakat means he has helped the poor or needy.
- When a person pays zakat, indirectly he has helped the poor. As Allah says in surah al-Qasas, verse 77 regarding the occurrence of Ihsan. Can extinguish the nature of envy and jealousy between the poor and the rich.

 WEEK 3

Topic: Preparation for Salah with Khushu'

1- Taharah (Wudu'/Tayammum)

perfecting ablution (wudu') is one of the factor ways to be focus in prayer.

2- Conditions for the Acceptance (sah) of Salah

Among the valid conditions of prayer include prayer at the time of prayer, covering the aurat, purity from minor hadas and major hadas, facing the correct Qiblah and intention.

3- Pillars of Salah

The pillars of Salah are divided into three, namely, qalbi, qauli and fi'li. Pillars of qauli are pillars performed with the heart, such as intention. Pillars of qauli performed with lafaz that is to be read with moving lips and can be heard by both ears such as the recitation of al fatihah, and takbiratulihram. Rukun fi'li is involves movements and actions such as prostration, bowing etc.

WEEK 2

Topic: Reasons and sources of hikmah from Ibadah

1- Solah

(29:45) (O Prophet), recite the Book that has been revealed to you and establish PrayerSurely Prayer forbids indecency and evilAnd Allah's remembrance is of even greater meritAllah knows all that you do. - Surah Al-'Ankabut :45

This is an important characteristic out of the many characteristics of the prayer, which has been presented here prominently in view of its relevance to the context. We are being told that the establishment of the Salat is the means through which we can get rid of those evils in which ourselves had been involved before.

2- Sawm

(2:183) Believers! Fasting is enjoined upon you, as it was enjoined upon those before you, that you become God-fearing.- Surah Al-Baqarah :183

Like most other injunctions of Islam those relating to fasting were revealed gradually. In the beginning the Prophet (peace be on him) had instructed the Muslims to fast three days in every month, though this was not obligatory. When the injunction in the present verse was later revealed in 2 A.H., a degree of relaxation was introduced: it was stipulated that those who did not fast despite their capacity to endure it were obliged to feed one poor person as an expiation for each day of obligatory fasting missed see (verse 184). Another injunction was revealed later see (verse 185) and here the relaxation in respect of able-bodied persons was revoked. However, for the sick, the traveller, the pregnant, the breast-feeding women and the aged who could not endure fasting, the relaxation was retained.

3- Zakah

[9:103] (O Prophet)! "Take alms out of their riches and thereby cleanse them and bring about their growth (in righteousness), and pray for them. Indeed your prayer is a source of tranquillity for them." Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.- Surah At-Tawbah : 103

4- Hajj

(2:197) The months of Hajj are well known. Whoever intends to perform Pilgrimage in these months shall abstain from sensual indulgence, wicked conduct and quarrelling; and whatever good you do, Allah knows it. Take your provisions for the Pilgrimage; but, in truth, the best provision is piety. Men of understanding, beware of disobeying Me.- Surah Al-Baqarah :197

- In the state of consecration (ihram) the husband and wife are required to refrain not only from sexual intercourse but also from lascivious conversation (and, for that matter, from any act which either stems from or is likely to stimulate sexual desire - Ed).

- Even though all sinful acts are evil, the sinfulness of such acts is aggravated when they are committed in the state of consecration (ihram).

- In this state it is not even permitted to rebuke one's servant.

-In the pre-Islamic Age of Ignorance it was considered an act of gross worldliness for anyone to carry provisions while on the Pilgrimage. A pious man was expected to go to the House of God without any worldly goods. This misconception is removed here and it is pointed out that abstention from carrying provisions is not necessarily an act of righteousness. True righteousness lies in the fear of God, in abstaining from violating His commands, and in leading a pure and decent life. If a pilgrim's conduct is not good and he resorts to wickedness the mere fact of not carrying provisions, thus parading his detachment from worldly goods, will do him no good. For his wickedness he will suffer humiliation both in the sight of God and man, and his action will be a desecration of the religious duty for which he undertook the journey. On the other hand, if a person's heart is full of the fear of God, and his moral conduct is good, he will be exalted by God and will be held in high esteem by human beings on his return from the Pilgrimage, regardless of the amount of provisions he carried.

Tuesday

 WEEK 1

Topic: Introduction

Ta'aruf - We getting know each other, make a lot of new friends.

Acquisition of hikmah (positive values) from 'Ibadah

1-Setting the right niyyah (intention)

From Umar bin al-Khattab RA, that the Prophet SAW said:

إِنَّمَا الأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَاتِ، وَإِنَّمَا لِكُلِّ امْرِىءٍ مَا نَوَى

Meaning: "Indeed, every practice is based on intention and indeed everyone will follow what is intended." [History of Muslim (1907)]

2- Applying the right 'amal (practices)

An Arabic proverb once said that:

الْعِلْمُ بِلَا عَمَلٍ كَالشَّجَرِ بِلَا ثَمَرٍ

"Knowledge without practices is like a fruitless tree."

3- Internalising the ihsan (positive values)

Once the Prophet was asked; "what is Ihsan?" to that he replied "[Ihsan is] to worship God as though you see Him, and if you cannot see Him, then indeed He sees you". We can understand from this that it means to do a thing well, in the best possible manner, to achieve excellence, to aim at beauty and perfection.

When one practices Ihsan with a heart filled with love of God then the resultant effect on him is that his whole being undergoes such a change that he becomes deserving of the Love of God as the Quran says "And practice Ihsan. Truly, Allah loves the doers of Ihsan." (2:195)
